Does a higher DPI really make a difference? ![]() It’s accurate enough, but users who are chasing every possible advantage are going to want to switch to a higher DPI. If a player moves his mouse one inch at 400 DPI, as long as mouse acceleration is disabled and their Window’s settings are default, the crosshair will move exactly 400 pixels. It’s easier to think of the dots as pixels that the mouse translates movement into. Most gaming mice today have optical or laser sensors that watch the mousepad beneath them, counting up the number of dots. The easiest way to think of DPI is like it’s the resolution that the mouse uses to “feel” itself move.
